CBS Sasquatch news report in the 1960s?

I just ran across a comment made a few days ago. It got lost in the nowhere land of posts that are made but email from blogger fails to reach me about it.. The commenter makes an astounding claim and I am wondering if any of my readers can give me any more information about it?

Here it is:

A "Bigfoot" was captured. The evidence exists. I saw a report (mid 1960's) on CBS news (with Walter Cronkite) showing video of a captured "typical" hairy creature - very human-like. He was bound with what seemed to be chain restraints. He stood about a foot taller that the 4 men who "escorted" him (against his will, by the expression on his face). The report said he was being taken to a secure (but secret) laboratory for testing and examination, and that for humanitarian reasons, his location would not be revealed. I waited for months for a follow-up report, but it never happened. I suggest that "Bigfoot researchers" ought to do a thorough search of CBS News archives. The video was astounding, but I've never seen it replayed, and CBS news never mentioned it again. (I'm not making this up.) Mike OK

In the mid 1960s I'd have been about three years old, so my memory doesn't stretch back that far. Does anyone else remember seeing such a broadcast?

I can say that I've seen odd reports on the news that are never repeated or followed up. But never about bigfoot. I'd like to track this one down if I could. Leave a comment or drop me a line if you can help.

Thanks to Mike OK for the tip.

Wow, that's quite a story. I would have been around ten back then, and I remember Cronkite very well; we watched him all the time. I do remember some things from on UFOs, but don't recall anything on Bigfoot.

If true, that such a thing really does exist somewhere, what a neat find!

With all due respect to Mike I am 100% certain he is indeed either making it up or seriously misremembering what he saw. Let's think about this. The number one newsman in the country broadcasts a story that would have been seen by millions, if not tens of millions, of people. Yet there was no discussion at the time among researchers and there is no record of such a segment being aired? If this had happened it would have been the Holy Grail of Sasquatch research and folks would be talking about it to this day. Have you ever heard Loren Coleman mention this? And why on earth would CBS have a desire to be involved in a bigfoot coverup? Check out all the old CBS news footage on YouTube. I don't consider myself a debunker but I can confidently say this story is false.
